De NHL heeft de speeldata en tijdstippen voor de oefenwedstrijden in voorbereiding op de herstart van de NHL bekendgemaakt. Op 28 juli worden er drie wedstrijden gespeeld, gevolgd door een reeks ontmoetingen in de twee dagen daarna.
Alle teams krijgen als afsluiting van het trainingskamp dat eerder deze week is begonnen Ă©Ă©n oefenwedstrijd. De eerste wedstrijd die weer wordt gespeeld gaat op 28 juli om 22.00 uur Nederlandse tijd tussen Pittsburgh en Philadelphia. Vier uur later volgt de derby tussen Toronto en Montreal en nog later de wedstrijd tussen Edmonton en Calgary. De wedstrijden worden gespeeld als de clubs zijn gearriveerd in hun bubble in Edmonton of Toronto.

De NHL heeft ook tijdstippen van de eerste drie wedstrijden in de verschillende kwalificatieseries. Op zaterdag 1 augustus kunnen ijshockeyfans vijftien uur achter elkaar ijshockey kijken. De eerste wedstrijd gaat tussen de New York Rangers en de Carolina Hurricanes, gevolgd door Blackhawks tegen Oilers. Teams die niet in de kwalificatieronde spelen, nemen deel aan een kwalificatieronde om te bepalen op welke plek men de play-offs ingaat.
